Heroes ratings are dropping sharply. The show barely has a third of the viewers it started out with. And unlike Lost it can’t really blame breaks or complex tangled stories for the problem, but its own sharp drop in quality. Not too long ago Heroes was the underdog that came out of nowhere to prove you could make a great SciFi TV series on network television. Now it’s a tattered shadow of its former self. So naturally after firing a bunch of people, rolling out a tedious Gitmo storyline, and all that jazz, Heroes is bringing out the big cannon of desperation, the lesbian kiss. Yes NBC and Heroes’ producers are really betting that their show, which has lost a million viewers since its season finale, is going to be saved by the lamest, most insulting and desperate tactic on network television. And one that just about every sinking series has already done to death. What it does is signal that Heroes is over, that the show can’t and won’t attempt to bring back the quality and has to roll out the lamest gimmick in the book assuming that its viewers are complete morons. The cast is doing its best to move on, and it seems like it’s time to just kill Heroes already.
